Gentlemen,
As you know, a very popular job we do for the membership is the “2 carts/2 caddies” job. Since we’ve been here, we have paid you guys the same rate as our BC2 job or $80 per cart + tip. There was a board meeting this past week and they have decided that every job under this will now be a FC2 or $40 per cart + tip. Please know that this decision was unpopular with me as your manager, and the golf staff alike. We realize it will be unpopular with you guys too. Our hands are tied. I’m sorry. The morale of our team could take a hit as a result.
With this being said, I think it sounds worse than it really is. One thing we can do is offer just 1 caddie per foursome so that everyone will have a shot at all 4 wallets in your group. If groups still want the 2 carts and 2 caddies, I challenge you to go above and beyond to “wow” them as tips tend to increase based on the level of service provided. There will still be days you will drive carts and still have days where you will be the only caddie. It will provide a good balance.
What we CANNOT do is have bad attitudes about The Board’s decision. This can carry over to your performance on the grass and then this can snowball into a bigger problem. Another thing we CANNOT do is approach members or guests about gratuity issues. If there is ever a problem where you make less than the recommended minimum, you are to come see me.
I think we can all agree that Peachtree is a special place, and it is very much a privilege to work here. I challenge everyone to count their blessings after every loop and not making it all about the money. In my opinion, this membership will continue to take care of you guys as long as we are working hard. The relationships that have been built over the years is very evident. Sure, we may be in shock over this news right now, but let’s continue to keep this train going.
I apologize for the late text this evening, but I literally found out prior to the Dogfight today. This will go into effect immediately starting Saturday, October 8. Have a good evening. Much love to all.
-Eric
